Root Coverage

Patients that suffer from gum recession not only appear to have “long teeth,” but the exposed roots also may cause sensitivity to hot or cold foods. Root coverage (gum grafting) can cover the exposed portions of roots, providing not only additional protection but also helping restore a person’s smile.
A root coverage gum graft allows a stable band of proper gum tissue to be placed around a tooth or teeth to cover exposed portions of roots. Root coverage procedures help develop gum tissue where needed to make teeth or dental implants look more natural.
Some people suffer from excess gum tissue which can easily and frequently be corrected through the use of a laser, but many others are embarrassed because of receding gums that expose defects in their teeth. Root coverage grafting can correct these issues to help restore confidence.
